Commentary on Psalm 133:1

Over the several decades that our extended family has lived as one, we have been privileged to experience the reality of this Scripture. As we have individually submitted ourselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the bonds between us have grown deeper than ordinary familial attachments. We love to spend time in fellowship together, to share everything with one another, to multiply each joy and divide each burden among all of us.
True unity, we have found, is more than just getting along with one another. Jesus prayed to the Father for his followers "that they may be one, even as we are one" (John 17:22). The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one Person, with one will and one mind. For the family that holds Christ as its head, there can likewise be only one agenda and one purpose - to glorify God.
A family or fellowship within the Body of Christ is like a puzzle. Every piece is unique, yet all fit together precisely when each is in its proper place. Trouble arises when the edge pieces try to fit in the middle, and the center pieces fight for the corners. Peace comes when each one rests in the Master's hand, ready to be set in the perfect place, content to be one yielded piece in a picture of love displayed for all to see.
