A family member who has since crossed over Jordan used to say: "If it's big enough to bother you, it's big enough to bother God." This man was a preacher, and also an avid golfer who sometimes took one of his young daughters with him to the course. On one such occasion he lost a new (and for the time, expensive) golf ball in the tall grass, and after fruitlessly searching for it, felt prompted to pray with his little girl for the Lord to help them find it. For a moment he questioned the impact it might have on her faith if the ball failed to turn up, but the urging continued, so he asked her: "Do you think God can help Daddy find that golf ball?" "Sure, Daddy," she replied with childlike faith. And so they knelt together on the golf course, and as they raised their heads after a simple prayer, there was the golf ball in plain sight.
We do not deserve that the God of all Glory should even take notice of us, but by his mercy He has adopted us into his family and made us his children. And like children, we ought to bring Him our concerns, both large and small, knowing that He will perfect them, simply because He loves us. The little girl on the golf course learned something about faith that day, a principle that would guide her life as she grew up to raise her own family, and eventually share some of the songs God gave her, such as this one, with the rest of the world.
